Chinese Crested Photography Sydney

Starlet the Chinese Crested

Sydney is a gorgeous place – I love all the parks, beaches, and city life. I also love the Blue Mountains (especially in autumn!) and the beautiful scenery.

However, as much as I love Sydney, if I were to think of a stunning landscape my mind would head straight to New Zealand. Specifically, this moment with this dog in front of these mountains on this lake under this setting sun.

This is Starlet – the first (and to date only!) Chinese Crested that I have photographed. I’d never seen one in real life before! Starlet was ultra confident and reigned over the proceedings with a very regal air.

These photographs were taken in Cromwell, which is a small historic town about 40 minutes outside of Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand. The landscape is just this incredible combination of mountains and water and nature all at once – when I was taking these shots I was tingling with excitement at being able to photograph such an unusual dog in such a unique location!

This jetty was on the edge of a historic gold mining precinct – a little town area that was abandoned for the ghosts and now welcomes tourists wandering through.

Starlet was born to model. Those ears, that windswept hair, those eyes – she’s definitely got the whole Hollywood glamour girl thing happening.

Starlet had such a royal air about her – it was obvious that she was the queen of the day and anyone else was merely her royal servant…including myself!

  1. Lyndall these photos are amazing! Another dog I would love to have met in week 2. That little butterfly… how timely and quite spiritual too.
