There may be a ten year age gap, but Buddy and Holly are best friends, brother and sister, and partners in cheeky labrador crime!
Holly is eleven years old and an absolute sweetheart. She is a gentle soul with the perfect combination of wisdom and playfulness.
Holly was really easy to work with as she was more than happy to plonk herself down in one spot and sit smiling at the camera. She is every photographer’s dream!!
One year old Buddy has SO much more energy – he certainly kept me on my toes!! Just look at him hooning around all goofy-like…
I actually met and photographed Buddy last year for the 2014 Labrador Rescue calendar, and I was really excited to meet him again!! Buddy was given a second chance at the happy life he deserves by Labrador Rescue, and you can tell just by looking at him what a happy boy he is now.
We started our photography session off at a lovely big park for Buddy and Holly to run around in. It was all kinds of hysteria – we had a random Golden Retriever decide to adopt us for a little while, a French poodle who stole Buddy’s brand new sqeaky bone, and my own labrador Maverick (who came along for a play) coat himself in mud. Life with dogs is never dull!!
We also headed to a quieter little park nearby for some more posed shots. We initially thought it would be a good idea to separate Holly and Buddy while doing their individual photos, but it quickly became apparent that neither of them were happy with that scenario at all. These two love each other so much – they were much happier with the other close by.
Not only do Buddy and Holly love each other, they also love their human family!! Jack came along to help out on Buddy and Holly’s big day, so of course I had to get a couple of shots of him with his canine siblings.
They say you should never work with dogs or kids…lucky for me I like both!! We had lots of fun 🙂

This photo of Buddy and Jack is one of my favourites though. I think it looks like the kind of shot they’d use at the start of a movie about a boy and his dog taking on the world together. Buddy and Jack, we have big plans for you!!
