Brunch in Sydney

I’ve recently been working on launching a new project called Brunch Dogs of Sydney – I am creating the ultimate guide to dog friendly cafes in Sydney! Two of my favourite things in life are dogs and brunch and I know that my favourite weekend activity is to head out with my dog Maverick for a lazy brunch.

Brunch Dogs of Sydney is still in its early stages of life – there is an Instagram and Facebook page but the website is still under construction. Once it is live, you’ll be able to search by suburb to find dog friendly cafes in Sydney to help plan your family adventures. You’ll also be able to see photos of the dogs who frequent each cafe and find out what they love most about brunch.

I’ve been clocking up the kilometres on the streets of Sydney while I’ve been photographing dogs for this project – and let me tell you, I’ve met some great ones! I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give a little sneak peek of some of their photos before the full website is launched.

Meet Alfie. Alfie loves brunch because he likes to be included and sit on my lap when we go out. He’s a real people person…err, people dog. I met Alfie at Henri Marc’s in Penrith.

Meet Mash and Sweep. Mash (as in mashed potatoes) and Sweep (as in Sooty and Sweep) love brunch because of the scraps at the end – smoked salmon is their favourite. Plus they love it when the wait staff make a fuss! I met Mash and Sweep at Cream Espresso in Naremburn.

Meet Louie. Louie loves brunch because of the food – and even wearing a cone after his big boy operation couldn’t keep him away. I met Louie at Cuckoo Callay in Surry Hills.

Meet Maverick. Maverick loves brunch because he always gets his own piece of toast and a puppacino (or two!). I took Maverick to Social Hideout in Waterloo.

Meet May – affectionately known as Peanut. Peanut loves brunch because she’s a social dog who likes to say hello to everyone. Unfortunately sometimes her ears get in the way of her puppacino which makes her a little sad. I met Peanut at Cafe Bones in Leichhardt.

There are so many good spots to take your dog out for brunch within the city of Sydney – and this is just a sneak peek. I can’t wait until the full guide is online! You can submit photos of your dog to be included in the project here and the home page for the project is here.

Don’t forget to follow Brunch Dogs of Sydney on Instagram and Facebook, and use the hashtag #brunchdogsofsydney to be included for a possible feature! You can also sign up for the mailing list at the bottom of my website for updates.

Follow the circle to read about a pet photographer in another city – Pittsburgh! Read on for Jessica Wasik with Bark & Gold Photography, celebrating the joy and love between Pittsburgh pets and their people.
