Meet some rescue dogs available to adopt in Sydney today!

Spring has sprung at Monika’s Doggie Rescue! The sun is shining, flowers are blooming, and everyone is wiggling and wagging around with a bounce in their step and a swing in their tail. Its a beautiful day to be adopted!

Please see below some of the dogs who are currently available to adopt. If you think you could give one of them the forever home they deserve or would like to make an enquiry, you can contact Monika’s Doggie Rescue on 9486 3133 or visit their website here. You can also follow the shelter on Facebook for more information and updates here.

Cisco is a six year old staffy x shepherd with ears to die for! He is around six years old and very inquisitive – he had heaps of energy and loved to put his paws up on things to have a good sniff. Cisco is an extremely clever boy who learns quickly and with some training could definitely be taught how to put his energy to good use.

Jewel is a sweet senior maltese x schnauzer who was quite calm and content to sit among the pretty flowers. She must have known how gorgeous she looked! Jewel is eleven years old and is looking to be adopted with her companion, Atlas.

Atlas is a ten year old spitz x sheltie who was quite nervous and stressed about having his photo taken. He sat still but was very worried about what was going on, he definitely needs to be in a loving home where he is given the time, space and care that he needs. He ideally is looking for a home with his companion, Jewel.

Sunshine is well named – she’s her own ray of sunshine! She is a cheerful and highly energetic staffy x who wasn’t keen on sitting still for the camera because she had so much exploring to do! Who could resist this cheeky face?

Heather is a little fearful and nervous about new things so wasn’t the biggest fan of sitting with the flowers. She is a nine year old lab x staffy who has some joint issues and has to take things a little easier to avoid flare ups.

Otis captured my heart and soul in a big way. He is absolutely terrified in the shelter environment – apparently he’s spent most of his time in his kennel shaking with terror. He loves going on walks but is scared of the wind, men, loud noises, sudden movements and so many other things. Otis sat on the backdrop with the flowers as shown but was visibly shaking and afraid so I let him hop off straight away as no photo is worth putting him through yet another scary ordeal. He quickly retreated to a cosy corner behind the backdrop set up and after hiding there for a little while, he finally relaxed enough to show us his beautiful smile. He needs a family who has the time, energy and love to help him learn to trust again and I have no doubt he will blossom into the happiest and sweetest dog you could ever meet.

Butch is a happy old man with a young heart! He is a snorty and snuffly American staffy x who was very friendly. He was so happy to jump up and pose with the flowers, he was having a great time hamming it up for the camera! Butch has enormous paws, a big head and a whole lot of love to give to his forever family.

Ripple is another nervous little soul who wasn’t overly sure about the camera. I have seen her huge smile in photos when she’s been on walks with shelter volunteers and she has such a sweet personality! She is quiet and reserved but away from the camera was happy to oblige in letting me pat and cuddle her for ages.

Suki had already been on two walks on the day I photographed and all set to go for a third before I stole her for a few minutes! She still had energy to burn but in a chilled and relaxed kind of way – she was excited to go out again but I think would have also been happy to curl up with someone for a nice snuggly nap. Suki was very cheerful and was not afraid to strut her stuff next to the flowers!

Ace wasn’t overly keen on either the flowers or my camera but was pretty stoked about getting some cuddles! He was very shy and wasn’t really sure about what was happening but once he got some extra affection he was the life of the party.

staffy x

Turbo is aptly named – he’s a little tank engine! A kelpie x labrador, he was extra bouncy and very food motivated – he would do anything for a schmacko! Turbo is a friendly pup who is around eight months old. He’s super smart and would be a perfect addition to an energetic family who have time to train him.

The last of our featured dogs this month is Martini – a sweet little white girl with plenty of energy! She is a special case because she has a suspected fractured elbow and is obviously in pain when she bears weight on it. The shelter are providing absolutely the best care possible for her but she’s tricky to contain because of her zest for life! Martini had cuddles for her photo to keep her still instead of frolicking among the flowers.
