Adopt Me! Monika’s Doggie Rescue – December 2018

Meet some rescue dogs available to adopt in Sydney today!

This month the focus is of course Christmas! All the dogs at Monika’s Doggie Rescue are excitedly waiting for Santa Paws to come and reward them with treats and goodies. The best present however? A family and a loving home of their very own. It’s important to be careful about giving pets as presents as Christmas but this is also the perfect time of year (especially if you have some time off work) to introduce a new family member with love and care.

Please see below some of the dogs who are currently available to adopt. If you think you could give one of them the forever home they deserve or would like to make an enquiry, you can contact Monika’s Doggie Rescue on 9486 3133 or visit their website here. You can also follow the shelter on Facebook for more information and updates here.

Matilda is a sweet girl who looks just adorable in her Christmas bow! She loves food but is not a fan of cats. She’s a fast learner and is so willing to please.

Marshmallow and Crem are pair of senior schnoodle x dogs who are looking for a home together. Crem (left) is the more adventurous of the two – Marshmallow (right) was happy to sit and chill quite happily in front of the camera.

Douglas is a kelpie x terrier who really needs a special owner to look after him. He’s not great with other dogs, loud noises or food – but I promise once you have his trust you will reap the rewards. He’s just a little misunderstood by the world and is needing a second chance in the right environment.

Jerry is a silky terrier x who is the ripe old age of fourteen. He has such a sunny disposition and definitely deserves crowds of people chanting his name! He loves treats and just look at those fancy feet.

Zeus is a goofy six year old mastiff x who spooked himself several times during his photo session by stepping on squeaky toys….and then he had a good giggle about it! He’s a little nervous initially when he meets new people but doesn’t take long to warm up. He also responded really well to compliments – he knows how good looking he is!

Elsa is a big cuddle pot! She’s a seven year old shepherd cross who would do well in the winter wonderland of her Disney namesake. Elsa can be food agressive and so is best in a house where she is the only dog.

Lupin is named after a werewolf character in Harry Potter…and it’s not such an illogical leap! I could totally imagine this guy running around in the light of the full moon – he does, however, operate on his own agenda and was mostly just interested in laying down and sleeping while I tried to take his photo. A shepherd x kelpie, Lupin has ears to die for – one permanently up and one permanently down!

Willow is one of the longest term residents at Monika’s. She’s come so far in her time at the shelter and is so ready for a home of her own. Willow is eleven years old and is a ridgeback x Staffy. She is very food motivated but doesn’t particularly like being touched. She was more than happy to sit and pose beautifully in front of the camera for me!

Cash is one energetic puppy! He’s bouncy and cheerful and a little bit of an excited tornado all in one. Cash definitely needs an active family who will take him on adventures and spend plenty of time playing in the park. Buckle in for a wild ride with this eleven month old bull arab x!bull arab x

Chance has a special story – he was rescued off a kill list at the pound. When he was at the vets for his checkup, he was so excited to find a teddy bear that he carried it around in his mouth for his whole appointment. I don’t think he had ever seen a toy before, much less had one of his own. Chance is a BIG fan of belly rubs – he spent most of his photo session wriggling around on his back waiting for a good one! He’s food motivated and very friendly.
