It’s been grey, windy and freezing this week – I know I’ve definitely felt in need of a little extra sunshine so here’s something along the lines of warmth, happiness and yellow colour! I’ve been lucky enough over the past few months to spend some time in sunflower fields…which of course means plenty of sunflower photos with dogs.
First up was Lucy the labrador – she came with me on the first day to check out the sunflower fields and she literally just giggled her way throughout all the flowers! She definitely knew how beautiful she looked amongst all the yellow.

Meg is currently in care with Monika’s Doggie Rescue and waiting for her forever home. She has diabetes which require quite a high level of care – unfortunately the right person hasn’t come along for her yet. Meg has been with Monika’s for quite awhile now – if you are interested please visit her adoption profile here.

Next up is Starky. At thirteen years old, Starky is a recent addition to our extended family – and I’ve been dying to photograph him for the longest time. I just knew that a distinguished gentleman like Starky was born to sit amongst the yellow blooms – just look at all that handsome happiness radiating out of him!

My own dog Maverick came with me a fair few times to the sunflowers and was so patient with me while I experimented with different shots. He is the best little model anyone could ask for – to be honest I haven’t even really begun to edit all of his sunflower photos yet but this one definitely caught my eye as a favourite.

This last image isn’t of sunflowers…but who could resist a bulldog in daffodils? I met Holly when I was in New Zealand on a pet photography course and I was literally just squealing with delight the whole time I was taking this photo. This was in Arrowtown, a tiny little town about twenty minutes outside of Queenstown.

This has been a really fun blog post to write and it’s actually inspired by a pet photographers blog circle I’ve just joined. Each week, everyone writes a blog about a common theme. The idea is that you read the post, follow the link at the bottom to someone else’s post, follow the new link to someone else’s post etc until you end up all the way back around the circle to where you started. Yellow felt like the perfect theme for my first post!
Follow the blog circle around for more yellow goodness! Next up is Angela Schneider of Noses & Toes Pet Photography in Spokane and North Idaho, where we unabashedly celebrate your connection with your pet.
